Senior Civil Engineer

Collin County’s Engineering Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Senior Engineer.
DUTIES AND RESPONDSIBILITIES:Develops or reviews plans, specifications, cost estimates and contracts for major projects.Reviews subdivision, commercial plans/plats and Capital Improvement Program plans for approval, verifies right-of-way dedications, drainage requirements, parking, paving and other improvements as per local, state and federal standards and codes.Conducts site inspections during all stages of construction projects.Assists with drainage/floodplain complaints and coordinates with public to develop feasible solutions, utilizing site visits, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and investigations.Acts as liaison with consultants and external engineers.Develops and updates design manuals within their specified discipline.Responds to public inquiries and inter-departmental inquiries relating to departmental functions.Prepares agenda items for Commissioners Court's action.Coordinates and prepares documents and updates for engineering meetings and public hearings.May oversee contractors and/or consultants.Updates and revises County geographic data as needed, including, but not limited to, base maps, subdivision locations, right-of-way dedications and utility easements.Confers with the supervisor and other departmental professionals and compiles various forms of written documentation in acquiring information for accurately performing essential function such as civil engineering drawings, final plats and standard construction specifications.Utilizes a variety of technological equipment and modem software applications in the performance of functions such as computers CAD programs, stations and plotters.Provides technical direction, training and support to other professionals in the department and in other departments of the County.Performs research and routine clerical functions when necessary.May perform as supervisor in his/her absence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering discipline; and five (5) years previous experience required.Previous experience preferred in municipal, county and/or land development engineering, as well as in using engineering and other general computer software.Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas issued by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. If licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in another state, must become licensed in the State of Texas within six (6) months of date of hire. Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.Hold a valid Certified Floodplain Manager’s License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
