Graycor is currently looking for a Sr. Steel Estimator to develop conceptual and hard bids for our manufacturing, retail, and energy transition markets. We are looking for a proven professional with a strong track record in creating competitive bids and budgets, with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry standards and practices.
Job Description:Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for miscellaneous and structural steel projects.Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare detailed material, labor, and equipment cost breakdowns.Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.Develop options and recommend best value solutions based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materialsSource and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.Prepare bid proposals, including detailed scope of work, cost estimates, and project timelines.Develop complete conceptual proposals to support business development and client maintenanceStay current with industry trends, materials pricing, and construction techniques to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates.Assist in the development and improvement of estimating tools, processes, and best practices.
Job Requirements:Must have a strong understanding of conceptual estimating and lump sum estimating techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.Bachelor’s degree required with 7 - 10 years of work experience in the estimating of miscellaneous and structural steel in a union and / or merit-based environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong understanding of steel erection processes, industry standards, and best practices.Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Must be proficient in estimating software (WinEst) and Microsoft Office Suite
