Strategic Sourcing Manager

This position is responsible for leading the sourcing function to achieve service, inventory, and cost objectives. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead supplier selection, long-term contract development, supplier management and strategy development for assigned commodities. This role has the responsibility of leading a team of sourcing professionals in designing and executing procurement strategies that result in the reduction of sourcing costs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:• Develop commodity sourcing strategy including contract negotiation, cost targets, supply chain risk evaluation and mitigation.• Negotiate favorable supplier contracts, terms, and conditions, achieving cost savings while ensuring consistent product quality and on-time deliveries.• Develop a commodity strategy that aligns technology and business requirements with supplier capabilities.• Work with procurement to align short-term orders to the strategic plan.• Work collaboratively and cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Procurement) to assess current and future sourcing requirements.• Utilize lean principles to optimize inventory management, leading to drive reduction in excess stock and carrying costs.• Establish and nurture strategic supplier partnerships to ensure a resilient supply chain and minimize potential disruptions.• Adept at fostering strong relationships with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and executives.• Implement programs for supplier evaluation, selection, qualification and supply base optimization.• Lead business critical decisions such as capital investments, strategic exits, and supply base consolidation.• Track and report commodity market trends/conditions.• Monitor current commodity market conditions to identify challenges and develop business continuity plans needed to avoid interruption of supply.• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing product owners to align technology roadmaps to supplier capabilities and product/technology strategies.• Participate with other team members (Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality) for any source. audit/qualifications needed for new source approval.• Manage overall strategic supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost, and quality improvements. Act as an escalation point for any critical gaps in supply or other critical issues.• Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.• Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.• Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.• Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:• Proven expertise in supplier evaluation, negotiation, and procurement strategy development• Mathematical skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.• Computer experience with Microsoft Office includes Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to write reports.• Demonstrated experience in change management.• Strong analytical skills coupled with a commitment to achieving operational excellence.• Experience leading teams and influencing in a matrix organization.• Exceptional relationship building and maintaining skills.• Ability to read and write English.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience that allows to perform all the duties of the position. Preferred master’s degree in business or related field.• 5 years of management experience leading supply chain teams.• 10 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.• Contract development, negotiation, and management.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:• Aerospace, machined parts procurement.• Knowledge of composite, plastic, raw metal, metal components, and adhesive manufacturing processes and technologies.• ISO-9001, AS9100, ISO 14001 compliance.• Defense industry experience.
