POSITION SUMMARYThe Director, Planning and External Supply Chain at Vericel Corporation is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing an industry leading end-to-end supply chain planning and External Supply Chain capabilities for Vericel’s clinical and commercial programs in accordance with current good manufacturing practices, (cGMP). Reporting to the VP, Supply Chain, he/she provides the leadership, strategic thinking, and results focus to reliably meet and/or exceed the company’s supply chain goals while maintaining high levels of quality. The incumbent will deploy best in class Supply Chain planning and outsourcing processes and systems to support to improve the effectiveness of Vericel’s Supply Chain to ultimately increase service to Patients. This position requires an individual with a combination of legal knowledge, business acumen and capable of creating and maintaining exceptional partnerships across and outside the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions:Define and implement global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and External Supply Chain key supply chain business practices and systems to ensure alignment and deliver exceptional service and transparency to key internal and external partners including Manufacturing, Quality, Commercial, and Finance.Own strategic relationship with strategic CMO and Supply partners including contract management, planning, compliance and operations oversight.Oversee all Supply Chain agreements through contract management.Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with company and operational goals; maintain and report applicable delivery metrics and conduct periodic Business Reviews with each critical supplier / service provider.Responsible for DSCSA compliance for all applicable programs as the system owner and facilitator of exception management processDrive continuous improvement and Operational Excellence culture through self-detecting and self-correcting processes and systems and instilling strong ownership and accountability.Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks through formal risk management and business continuity planning; escalate key risks and issues.Partner closely with other groups within supply chain organization such as Warehouse Management and Materials Planning to ensure alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s or Master’s degree in production operations management or related field.Supply Chain Management certification(s) (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, SCOR-P, CPM, etc.).Minimum of 10 years practical experience in Materials Planning and Purchasing in a Biopharmaceutical/cGMP environment.Minimum of 5 years of organizational leadership experience.Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills; great attention to detail and the ability to drive timely and fact based cross functional decision making in complex, high consequence scenarios.Expertise with budget, forecasting and materials management.Demonstrated expertise with ERP systems, 3PL and CMO oversight.Experience with compliant serialization in an FDA DSCSA environment.Highly effective and professional communication skills with employees and supplier representatives at all levels.A leadership approach that inspires confidence, credibility, and trust internally (within and across teams) and externally. You’re adept at inviting different perspectives, facilitating data-based decision making, and building buy-in.Established track record of mentoring and developing staff and building high performing teams
