is seeking a

Tunnel Inspection Team Leader

for our New York Office. The applicant should have proven effectiveness performing tunnel and/or bridge condition assessments. Strong knowledge of bridge and/or tunnel inspection standards and field inspection experience is essential. This position is full-time and will be in-person in the office (and inspection sites) five days per week.

Roles & ResponsibilitiesTunnel Inspection Team Leader responsibilities include:Perform structural condition inspections of existing Tunnel structures and associated tunnel facility structures in accordance with TOMIE (Tunnel Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Evaluation) manual chapters 4 and 5, as well as current ACI and/or AISC standards as applicable.Prepare clear and concise inspection reports, for submission to government agencies, including recommendations for repair/rehabilitationLead inspection teams; train and supervise assistant team leaders.Coordinate and schedule field activity associated with inspections, including coordination with facility owner/agency and third-party contractors.This role requires mandatory random drug/alcohol testing.

Education and Experience Requirements/QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited engineering programAt least five (5) years of consistent experience in the field of structural engineering and constructionRegistered Professional Engineer in New York, preferredCertified as a Team Leader in accordance with the National Tunnel Inspection Standards, 23 CFR Part 650, § 650.509 (b) or shall become certified as a Team Leader by successfully completing the

training course Tunnel or bridge condition inspection experience with the ability to identify and evaluate defects that diminish the integrity of a structural memberDesign experience and familiarity with the type of civil/structural systems installed in tunnelsAbility to assess the degree of deterioration for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber materialsUnderstanding of the applicable codes and guidelines for structural systems.

Talent/SkillsThe ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of construction materials, structural systems, and inspection procedures. They must be familiar with building codes and safety regulations, ensuring that all inspections meet industry standards. Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills are crucial for identifying structural issues. Effective communication is essential for reporting findings and working collaboratively with project teams. The candidate should be able to work independently on-site and manage time efficiently. Proficiency with inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for report documentation is also required.

Compensation and BenefitsSalary range:
