Job DescriptionCollin County is seeking candidates for the position of Unified Communications Administrator in the Information Technology department. Under the direction of the Infrastructure Supervisor, this position is responsible for planning, architecting, implementing, and performing advanced troubleshooting and third level support for VoIP communications solutions and voice systems. Duties also include:Performing administration on voice related applications and equipment to include adding, deleting, and changing users, restricting access, resetting phones, creating extensions, and writing scripts. Maintains systems administration by inputting software changes for trunking, routing, and traffic analysis and adding changes for voicemail and system performance.Performing daily maintenance and troubleshooting of various voice systems. Monitoring Active Directory and Exchange integration with voice systems and requests updates to information as needed.Monitoring routers, gateways, and servers specific to voice systems. Performing programming, scripting, and configurations of routers and gateways. Monitoring health of servers to ensure operating to standards.Maintaining and updating voice applications. Monitoring voice systems and applications for performance and capacity.Providing technical assistance by adding and moving phone equipment and fax machines, punching and testing phone and data cables, extending circuits, writing technical procedures for maintain and troubleshooting equipment, and keeping track of circuit IDs and locations.Providing third level support by analyzing and resolving problems associated with the voice systems. Researching answers to technical issues, questions, and problems of moderate to high complexity to provide solutions to end users. Providing training to end users and writes technical procedures.Performing an active role in the development and implementation of new voice technologies to include capacity planning, preparing requests for proposals/bids, meeting with vendors, creating purchasing orders, and installing and configuring new voice equipment and applications.Tracking and maintaining licensing of phones. Managing, maintaining, and controlling the cost of phone bills and network service bills for the county.Other duties as assigned. Required to be on call.Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature. An Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university required or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. A minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience in communication solutions and voice systems required. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. Cisco Certifications (CCNA Voice) preferred.
