PSM Manager / Plant Engineer

Job Functions:Provide technical support and make improvements to operations through troubleshooting and process optimization of manufacturing units (batch & continuous)Support plant Process Safety Management (PSM) systems; coordinate & facilitate PSM audits and ensure complianceCoordinate PSM field activities through Process Unit leaders and conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)Conduct and Track PHA compliance, lead reviews and manage Process Hazard Analysis reportingOversee Risk Management to ensure compliance with USEPA RMP & state CALARP regulationsAssist with Emergency Response planning and reportingTrack and report on Corrective Action response and recommendationsProactively seek ways to improve production rates, yields, quality and costsDevelop P&IDs; PFDs and oversee simulation and process designProvide engineering documentation for sizing of process equipment, i.e., pumps, control valves, and relief valvesAssist on instrumentation specifications and selection; capital projects and plant start-upsTroubleshoot any processing, quality, or equipment abnormalitiesWork with the R&D group to translate and develop new process designs into plant production and assist with environmental compliance requirementsReview equipment approval drawings; vendor documents and other documentation provided from other disciplinesDevelop major equipment specifications including reactors and distillation columnsModel physical properties for broad spectrum of fluids and mixturesWrites campaign summaries and technical reports and prepare capital project estimatesEnsure compliance with all regulatory safety requirements and with all regulatory environmental requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineer (BS ChE) required5+ years’ experience in a PSM-regulated chemical manufacturing plant with a broad technical understanding of plant operations2+ years conducting and overseeing PHA methodologies & Process Safety Management in a specialty chemical manufacturing settingKnowledge of Process Design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and Heat Exchange systemsExperience overseeing PSM / PHA / RMP audits, ensuring compliance and reportingIn plant optimization experienceDelta V (or similar DCS system) experiece and ability to perform hydraulic calculationsExperience troubleshooting process equipment and instrumentation; predictive and preventative maintenanceAble to work as a team member as well as independentlyMust have excellent communication written and verbal; report writing and trackingComputer skills including EXCEL, Word, Outlook and PowerPointPass post-offer background check and pre-employment physical test
