ALTA IT Services has a direct hire opening for a Senior Software Solutions Architect with more than 10 years of experience to lead the design and implementation of comprehensive software solutions across multiple projects. The role will support a leading healthcare IT company based in Columbia, MDThe ideal candidate has a strong foundation in solution architecture, a strategic vision for software system design, and can work across various domains, especially healthcare. While healthcare experience is not mandatory, familiarity with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and UM (Utilization Management) is very strongly preferred.This role requires a hands-on, versatile architect who can translate complex business needs into scalable, secure, and effective software solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, QA, security, and business units, to align software design with both business and compliance requirements.This is a remote position with infrequent office and customer visits in Columbia, MD
Key Responsibilities
Software Solution Design &ArchitectureDesign and lead scalable software solutions, emphasizing interoperability, maintainability, and security, with an understanding of healthcare industry standards as applicable.Conduct architectural assessments to guide best practices, performance optimization, and secure software delivery.Translate business and regulatory requirements into technical software solutions that support both current and future needs.
Project Collaboration & Cross-Functional LeadershipLead solution design across multipleprojects simultaneously, providingbalanced architectural insights that consider security, functionality, and adaptability.Collaborate with healthcare-focused project teams and product managers, applying domain knowledge to enhance solution relevance and compliance.Mentor and guide junior architects and developers, ensuring alignment with best practices and consistent architectural standards.
Healthcare Technology Familiarity(Preferred) Familiarity with FHIR and UM, with the ability to integrate healthcare standards when required.Work with subject matter experts to bridge healthcare knowledge gaps, designing solutions aligned with healthcare regulatory frameworks and interoperability standards.
Security & ComplianceProactively address architectural vulnerabilities, implementing security best practices for software architecture and design.Ensure that solutions meet applicable regulatory and compliance standards, particularly in healthcare, by collaborating with security and compliance teams.
Continuous Improvement & Thought LeadershipStay updated with advancements in software development, architectural patterns, and healthcare technology standards.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance, reliability, and team efficiency.
Qualifications10+ years of experience in software solution architecture, with a track record of designing and delivering complex systems.Strong expertise in software development frameworks across front-end and back-end technologies, with a focus on scalable, secure, and maintainable design patterns.Familiarity with healthcare technology standards (FHIR, UM) and regulatory frameworks is advantageous but not mandatory.Excellent analytical skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex architectural ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

SALARY RANGE:
