Mammoth Freighters LLC is hiring Stress Engineers specializing in finite element modeling in support of STC development of wide body passenger to freighter aircraft conversions. We are seeking a highly skilled structural finite element modeler to join our team. As Structural FEM engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our modeling approach to ensure efficiency, consistency, quality, and safety. This job is based in one of our engineering offices in San Diego, CA or Fort Worth, TX.

Qualifications•Strong communication skills (oral and written)•Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the company, contractors, and vendors•BS or MS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred)•Minimum 5 years of industry experience in finite element techniques and analysis of aircraft structures•Must have a complete understanding of engineering modeling techniques and principles, coding, and theory with aircraft structures using FEMAP/NASTRAN•Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and manuals•Experience using MS Office Excel and developing Visual Basic for Application (VBA) scripts•Must possess organizational and scheduling skills to coordinate work efforts and determine the approach for the project to provide solutions to a range of complex modeling and analysis problems•Ability to evaluate, document, and report pro/cons of designs based on structural trade studies•Experience with metal and composite modeling techniques for aircraft structures•Able to work extended hours as required•Experience in writing technical reports and presenting data in a clear and concise manner•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills•Driven self-starter with strong sense of accountability

Responsibilities•Generate finite element models to accurately represent aircraft structures, coordinate with external loads teams, and distribute internal loads to analyst teams•Prepare and review finite element documentation for certification•Coordinate and valid finite element models from full scale strain gage testing•Generate detailed finite element models for fatigue and damage tolerance analysis with validation through hand analysis techniques•Utilize technical data such as drawings, manuals, etc., to perform engineering tasks•Develop tools for comparative structural analysis between multiple aircraft models•Provide Engineering status for work progress as required by manager•Meet and/or exceed projected budget and timeline goals for engineering services performed
