Delta Electronics (Americas) Ltd. is seeking a Senior EMI/EMC Engineer – Power Electronics Design to join our advanced Milan M. Jovanovic Power Electronics Lab, located in Research Triangle Park, NC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and verify your ideas to enhance the performance of next-generation power electronics across various applications. These applications include on-board charging converters, EV traction inverters, charging stations, wind and solar inverters, and energy storage. Collaboration with global teams, interaction with suppliers, conference participation, and research publication in technical venues will also be part of your journey.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop EMC model and solutions for power electronics systems for automotive and IT power applications.Conduct EMI studies in simulation, assess the performance of power electronics system.Model and verify EMI performance in various testing conditions.Analyze and optimize EMI on the component and system level.Test power electronics systems in set ups under different EMC regulations.Translate EMC regulation requirements into power electronics specifications.Design filters, shielding, and grounding solutions to minimize EMI.Work closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software engineers, and system integrators.
Basic Skills and ExperienceKnowledge of electronics circuit development concepts, analog and digital electronics, fundamental RF electronics circuit, power losses, semiconductor device basics, etc.Understand fundamental electromagnetic theory including magnetic circuits, Maxwell equations, skin and proximity effect, etc.Hardware experience including PCB layout design, prototyping and test.Experience in EMC simulation tools such as ANSYS, HFSS, CST etc.Excellent hands-on and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with power electronics development for AC/DC, DC/DC and inverter systems.Deep understanding of EM theory in power electronics systems. (topologies, parasitic effects, near field coupling, partial discharge, etc…)Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC standards (CISPR, ISO, IEC).Deep knowledge of network analysis.Experience with magnetic components design and development, inductors, transformers, filters, etc.Knowledge of mechanical, thermal and material design considerations is a plus.Experience with power semiconductor devices (SiC MOSFETS, SiC diodes, Si IGBTs, etc).Experience with DSP Programming.Cost tradeoffs, mechanical tolerances, manufacturability, etc.
QualificationsM.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on EMI/EMCCandidates should possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. You must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
