Job Description/ ExpectationsArchivists fuel the information work at the heart of our projects. With care and respect, this role uses library and archival science best practices to arrange, preserve, and describe sensitive artifacts. The Archivist works as part of a collaborative team to implement strategic processing plans, provide cataloging and discovery services, address basic preservation needs, and share their knowledge across teams. Additionally, this role will use archival discoveries to assist in curatorial efforts.The successful associate archivist understands LIS best practices and how to adapt them to fast paced and unique settings. They are flexible, dependable, and creative with a commitment to discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities of this RoleUnderstand and implement archival and cataloging strategies specific to each client.Work with senior archivists and product managers to meet client and internal expectations by performing common collection tasks such as:a) Conduct incoming and outgoing collection inventories.b) Scan and/or photograph two and three-dimensional artifacts in preparation for ingest.c) Re-house a variety of archival materials such as photographs, textiles, and three-dimensional objects.d) Process and arrange multi-format archival collections and work with leadership to develop processing plans.e) Using internal systems, catalog and describe artifacts according to Inveniem standards.f) Work with IT to organize and store digital assets.On occasion, serve as lead archivist on projects and work cross-functionally to help strategize, plan, and execute projects, such as:a) Understand and document the information needs and behaviors of the client.b) Under the guidance of leadership, create processing plans that fit project timelines and priorities.c) Discover content within the collection and work cross-functionally to create compelling narratives.Collaborate closely with our vault and product teams to meet client expectations and deadlines.Provide reference services for assigned collections.Track daily work to facilitate workflows across various teams.Maintain confidentiality of client assets and company operations.Occasional ability to travel within the region.

Required ExperienceAn MLIS from a program accredited by the ALAAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality when working with restricted or confidential materials.Strong attention to detail.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflows in a fast-paced environment. Must be flexible and willing to learn new skills as needed.Passion for music, popular culture, and history.Willingness to continually learn and expand knowledge.Hands-on experience processing physical collections and/or relevant coursework.Basic understanding of preservation techniques and best practices for handling archival materials to ensure their long-term preservation.Experience cataloging using standard archival or library standards and schema or relevant coursework.Proficient in navigating technology to accomplish daily work. Examples include Microsoft Office Suite, Airtable, and Slack.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Familiarity with operating scanners to capture high-resolution images.Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a team of archivists, as well as other professionals, in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to contribute to team projects and support colleagues as needed.Time management and the capability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a dynamic archival setting.Ability to lift and move boxes or containers of archival materials, as well as spending long periods of time standing or sitting while working with collections.

Extra CreditKnowledge of how to conduct research to support creative storytelling and curation.Experience using photographic equipment to capture stylized images.Familiarity with Agile workflows.Experience using Confluence and Jira.We encourage recent graduates, new information professionals, and information workers looking for a career change to apply.
