A highly regarded law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior attorney to join its Aviation & Aerospace practice in Chicago. This role involves handling civil defense litigation matters across both state and federal courts. The successful candidate will be expected to manage cases independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Experience in aviation law, product liability, and premises liability is preferred but not required. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work in a specialized and growing area of law, with significant responsibilities and the potential for professional growth.Duties:Handle civil defense litigation in state and federal courts.Prepare cases for trial, including conducting pre-trial discovery, depositions, and legal research.Manage aviation-related legal matters, as well as product liability and premises liability cases.Collaborate with legal teams to strategize and execute litigation plans.Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and trial briefs.Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel regarding case progress and strategy.Travel as required for court appearances, depositions, and client meetings.Requirements:Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil defense litigation.Strong research, writing, pre-trial discovery, and deposition skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team.Organizational skills and self-motivation to manage caseloads with minimal supervision.Trial skills and experience are a plus but not mandatory.Willingness to travel as needed for case-related activities.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active license to practice law in Illinois.Skills:Expertise in civil defense litigation, including familiarity with aviation law, product liability, and premises liability.Strong analytical and legal writing abilities.Ability to handle complex litigation cases with minimal oversight.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with a legal team.Client-focused approach with clear communication and interpersonal skills.Workplace Type:
