Valley Charities Inc is a locally owned non-profit organization serving the residents of Mat Su Valley with various programs since 1956. One such program is our turn-A-leaf Thrift Store. This is a secondhand retail store that receives and processes donated items for re-sale.We are opening a New Store. This position will be responsible for roll out and set up of this new store.Valley Charities supports our community with a variety of programs and look for employees who are like-minded and enjoy helping others by using their experience to enhance the operation on our Thrift Store.Essential Job Functions
Provide excellent customer service.Ensure that daily business operations run smoothly.Acting as a link between senior management, staff & volunteers in order to achieve a common objective.Supervising the daily work and delegating responsibilities.Interacts with others in an accepting and respectful manner, remain positive and respectful even in difficult situations, Projects a positive, compassionate image at all times.Provide training for staff and volunteers. Coaches, develops, and inspires staff members.Actively pricing and arranging merchandise for display within the designated areas.Performing all duties and responsibilities of a cashier.Actively working a productive merchandise rotation from backroom shelves.Graciously accepting incoming donations; prepare and give tax receipt per request.Able to cope with change and ability to shift direction when needed.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with good listening skills.Develop an exceptional familiarity with Valley Charities Inc, turn-A-leaf and our place in the community.Acts as an Ambassador for Valley Charities Inc.Minimum Qualifications
Solid work history demonstrating productivity and reliability.Must possess the ability to work well with a variety of customers and staff.Must be able to work independently and efficiently in all areas of store operations.Must have a minimum of two years as retail manager or supervisor.Must have the ability to advise and delegate for a minimum of five staff or volunteers.Must have reliable transportation to/from work.The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a period of time.Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record.Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.The ability to use technology. Prior experience with cash registers, making change.Experience balancing cash drawers, reconcile daily sales.Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
