Job DescriptionJob Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night Rotating (12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience in a large facility over 200 beds and Level 1 trauma center
License: ND or compact state RN License
Certifications:- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - required prior to start
Must-Have: EPIC EMR experience
Job Description:
- Manage 1-2 critically ill patients, focusing on varying patient populations including medical and surgical patients with emphasis on renal and bone marrow transplant as well as oncology patients.- Independently care for critically ill patients and manage vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropics, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips.- Assist with bedside procedures including Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI), tracheostomy, line placement, and other diagnostic tests.- Use of equipment such as Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, Phillips patient monitoring systems, AvaSure patient monitoring, Hamilton Ventilator, Hamilton V60 BiPAP.- Float to all critical care departments, including Intermediate ICU and medical-surgical units as needed, with nurse-to-patient ratios of up to 4:1.- Follow the dress code of navy scrubs.- Participate in a structured orientation program, consisting of 32 hours over the first week, including hospital and unit-specific training.
Note: This position requires candidates to be willing to float to Intermediate ICU units with a 1:4 ratio and to assist in medical-surgical units with task assignments as needed.
