Abbott’s Heart Failure BusinessIn Abbott’s Heart Failure business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.THIS IS A REQUIRED ON-SITE DAILY POSITION.THIS POSITION CAN WORK OUT OF OUR FACILITY IN PLEASANTON, CA OR BURLINGTON, MATHE OPPORTUNITYScientific Communications ManagerWe have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our growing clinical affairs team within Abbott Heart Failure. The job purpose and scope of the Scientific Communications Manager is to effectively communicate and proactively lead the dissemination of evidence generation activities from the clinical affairs organization. This includes developing and executing the podium and publication strategy in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Programs and other cross-functional partners, as well as contributing to scientific and clinical materials including publications and presentations as well as internal work instructions and SOPs. This position will work closely with the cross-functional clinical study team including field clinical affairs, marketing, medical affairs, biostatistics, in addition to working directly with physician leaders and study investigators. This individual will have significant interaction with internal leadership and physicians.Description of Job ScopeThis position will:Proactively engage cross-functional groups in designing and executing on the departmental podium and publication strategy.Lead the development of improved work instructions and SOPs that improve clinical evidence dissemination efficiencies.Design and manage multiple digital platforms to track and communicate clinical study progress.Synthesize and disseminate literature across multiple products and/or therapies within the assigned therapeutic area.Collaborate closely with external stakeholders including physician investigators and key opinion leaders on clinical and scientific evidence generation projects.Contribute as an author on presentations, publications and/or regulatory submissions through coordination with clinical science, investigator authors and project management.QualificationsMinimum requirements: Masters Degree and 5+ years required. PhD in biomedical engineering, biological sciences, or related field preferred.2+ years of medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry experience in a similar role.Working knowledge of medical conference organization from an industry perspective.Understanding of cardiovascular physiology is preferred.Experience in communication and organizational tools such as PowerBI and Monday.com.Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently.Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.Demonstrated skill and tactfulness in working as a cross-functional team member.Well-organized and self-motivated with an ability to initiate and follow through on assignments.Travel requirements can be up to 25%Key attributes considered necessary for successAbility to work collaboratively, internally and externally.Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.Ability to work in a group environment.Ability to drive effective communication with a cross-functional team.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiation and teamwork skills.Working at AbbottAt Abbott, you can do work that matters, grow, and learn, care for yourself and family, be your true self and live a full life.
