Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Advanced Transportation Department Manager to work in our Energy, Environment Science and Technology (EES&T) Department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the Division Director of Systems Science and Engineering.Lead the development of reliable and effective technologies and analysis methods to facilitate transportation decarbonization and electrification. Focus is on the development of solutions for advancements in charging networks and infrastructure planning to support light, medium and heavy duty transportation.Responsibilities Include:Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and professionals. Provide guidance to team members within the latitude of established company policies.Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.Execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.Receive objective based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines. Participate in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.Work with customers, understand priorities and needs and develop solutions to advance customer missions.Partner with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other external stakeholders.Responsible for personnel activities to include: performance management, hiring, and professional development.Communicate and present results and recommendations across discipline.Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or science discipline with 5 years experience with (2) years of leadership experience.The Manager must have a proven research track record in engineering, chemistry, or physics specialties of relevance to electric vehicles and charging infrastructure; complex systems modeling, analyses, and data reduction; and testing of complex engineering systems.Demonstrated experience engaging with industry through collaborative efforts and initiatives.Professional experience developing programs, interfacing with sponsors, and obtaining project funding.Prior leadership (supervisory) experience with diverse teams.This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Desired Experience:Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or science and 12 years of relevant experience.
Job Information:The target pay range for this position is $150,672 - $222,078 annually. The full pay range is $103,032 - $262,740 . At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
