Position OverviewAs Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property, you will play an important role in enabling Autodesk’s success by providing expertise and counsel on intellectual property matters, protecting the intellectual property assets essential to Autodesk’s success, and guiding business strategy and operational decisions in line with intellectual property laws and best practices. Reporting to the Senior Director & Senior Intellectual Property Counsel and collaborating closely with your legal and business colleagues, you will provide legal support for Autodesk’s trademark, copyright and open source programs.This position is a hybrid role, based out of our Boston, Denver, or Portland office.ResponsibilitiesDevelop a deep understanding of Autodesk’s business strategy and productsWork closely with the Autodesk IP team to develop and execute on Autodesk’s intellectual property strategyPartner with Autodesk business teams and outside counsel to support and grow Autodesk’s trademark and copyright programsAdvise and support the broader Autodesk legal team on trademark and copyright mattersCollaborate with outside counsel to manage cease & desist, offers to license and other pre-litigation IP enforcement mattersCreate, enhance and continuously improve internal training programs to build general awareness of the importance of intellectual property and to drive best practices to both leverage and protect those assetsExercise excellent legal judgment and extraordinary communication skills to provide practical, clear, and concise counselMinimum QualificationsJD degree from an ABA-accredited law school; member in good standing of at least one state bar4-6+ years experience in the areas of trademark and copyright law, with at least 2 years in a law firmExcellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated business acumen: You see the “big picture” as well as the relationship of very detailed and specific legal and business issuesYou are a self-starter, but also seek guidance when appropriateYou are intellectually curious and love learning something new every dayYou minimize complexity and use common sense to solve problems in the most efficient way, while also never losing sight of the law and best practicesYou actively seek differing perspectives to create more powerful outcomesYou are comfortable interacting warmly and professionally with everyone from senior executives to interns -- you recognize that you don’t know everything and can learn from anyoneYou hold yourself and others accountable and you welcome feedbackYou are committed to personal and professional growthYou are passionate about making a positive impactPreferred QualificationsPrior experience with trademark prosecution and enforcementPrior experience advising on copyright matters, including licensing, fair use, DMCA and open-source softwareSuperior presentation skills and a love for teaching others about intellectual property in ways that are creative, engaging and impactfulAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $148,700 and $240,570. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
