Join our Advanced Sources and Detectors (ASD) Project team, integral to the Enhanced Capabilities for Subcritical Experiments (ECSE) initiative. We are focused on the pioneering Scorpius electron linear induction accelerator, essential for diagnosing subcritical implosions at the Nevada National Security Site with the Department of Energy (DOE). We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that supports the design, development, and operation of advanced accelerator systems.

What You Will Do:Collaborate with engineers, physicists, and technical staff to create, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation, including technical manuals, user guides, assembly instructions, and operational procedures for the Scorpius project.Ensure all documentation adheres to project standards and national regulations while meeting quality, accuracy, and clarity requirements.Develop diagrams, flowcharts, and illustrations to enhance understanding of complex technical processes and systems.Conduct interviews and gather information from subject matter experts to capture technical details and project updates.Organize and manage documentation using established project management and version control systems, ensuring easy access and traceability.Review and revise documentation based on feedback from engineering teams and project stakeholders.Support the creation of presentations and reports for project status meetings and technical reviews.This role is available for full-time remote!
Requirements
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in scientific or engineering environments.Proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear and understandable content.Familiarity with engineering concepts, particularly in electrical or mechanical systems, to effectively communicate with technical teams.Proficiency in documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, or similar software, and familiarity with CAD tools for creating diagrams.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Preferred Skills:
Experience working with the Department of EnergyExperience with documentation in high-EMI environments, such as particle accelerators.Understanding of regulatory standards for technical documentation.Familiarity with PDM systems and collaborative documentation management.Knowledge of graphical communication principles.Experience in cross-functional teams, especially in R&D settings.
