The Position
The Passenger Van Driver transports qualified residents to and from the City of Encinitas Senior Center for the Senior Nutrition Program.
This is a part-time, temporary, reserve non-benefited position. Incumbents work less than 999 hours a year.
Examples of Important & Essential Duties (included but not limited to)
Transport qualified Encinitas residents to and from the Encinitas Senior Center for the Senior Nutrition Program according to the designated route, within an established time frame; transport passengers in a safe, defensive manner; open and close van door after passengers enter and exit the vehicle; inspect vehicle and document inspection prior to driving; report vehicle maintenance problems to Supervisor; ensure that all passengers are wearing their seat belts prior to departure; notify supervisor of any "no-shows"; document mileage; monitor fuel level and fill up tank as needed; take vehicle to the car wash as needed; make recommendations as needed to Supervisor regarding schedule changes; report any passenger misconduct or violation of the Transportation Rules to Supervisor; exhibit positive and cooperative relationships with passengers and co-workers; use good judgment and make sound decision in accordance with established procedures and policies. Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Any combination equivalent to experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities to drive for the City of Encinitas Senior Nutrition Transportation program, such as one year of experience in the transportation of multiple senior citizen passengers.Possession of California Driver's License.A good driving record
