The Energy & Infrastructure Team at Teneo
As a member of the Energy & Infrastructure team, you will have the opportunity
- work with leading companies, investors, and governments globally on the top issues impacting their leadership and boards, with a particular focus on seizing growth opportunities and managing risk associated with decarbonization and the energy transition
- provide strategic advice at most senior levels of organizations, use our in-depth understanding of energy and infrastructure sector technology, economics, and policy to support strategy, stakeholder (investor, policy makers, customers) communication, manage risk, access and optimize capital
We leverage Teneo's world-class capabilities in strategic communications, financial and risk advisory, people, plus our strategic relationships with world-class policy advisory (WestExec), clean tech (the Cleantech Group), and our senior advisors to do what other consultancies can't.

The Role:
As a Business Development Manager, you'll be an accomplished, consistent, effective member of the Teneo Management Consulting team whose focus is supporting the Energy & Infrastructure practice with the development of consulting IP as well as the creation of proposals and the writing of bids, CRM management and other tasks such as liaising with internal teams. This role will play a key role in enabling the practice to serve leading companies in energy and infrastructure on
complex issues surrounding policy, technology and innovation, growth, financial strategy, with a particular focus on sustainability and decarbonization. Typical clients you will encounter in this role include US and global utilities, IPPs, renewable/energy storage/EV infrastructure, investors, equipment manufacturers, private equity and pension fund investors.
Responsibilities:
- Actively lead on the creation of client proposals, leveraging common templates where available and creating templates where necessary and appropriate
- Working with the E&I practice leadership to provide structural support for the research and material creation to support sector IP development
o Drafting of whitepapers
o Creation of proposal collateral derived from IP
- Drafting complex collateral slides directly from client briefings subject to review from team leadership
- Guiding and directing junior colleagues to assist in Business Development activities
- Co-ordination of business development campaigns and events in support of this
- Leading practice management meetings and supporting in practice business planning
- Development of practice pipeline generation strategy to include whitepaper development, practice events
- Coordinating the creation of profiles, proposal content, and research activity across junior team members assigned to research tasks
- Liaison with the Teneo legal department to support in contracting of client engagements
- Liaising with recruitment to support the fulfilment of hiring requests
- Co-ordination with sister organizations on IP creation/ conferences etc
- Mapping and tracking of internal relationships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant degree discipline
- 3+ years' relevant work experience: experience within a Strategy Consulting environment and/or experience working on energy/ infrastructure topics is advantageous, but other relevant work experience might include roles involving BD and sales support, project management, strategy planning and client management.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in energy transition and sustainability issues
- Can skillfully and confidently influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, quickly establishing rapport and leveraging this to drive results
- Logical and numerate, with experience using Excel to analyze and manage numerical and text data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in management consulting or similar context
- An entrepreneurial attitude: Passionate, highly intellectually curious, commercially aware, results-oriented, and self-starting
- Evidence of teamwork, leadership, and ambition, alongside relevant work experience
- Operates at a fast pace, demonstrating the ability to influence and challenge when needed and balance competing priorities across different teams
- Creates an immediate, positive, and credible impression on others
- Ensures all reports, data and written work are correct in detail and without error

Base Salary Range
$160,000-180,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).

Flexible Work Policy
Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the New York and San Francisco offices, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of three times a week.
