ResponsibilitiesQuality:Ensuring on-going customer quality standards are being met on shipped productIdentify, measure, maintain and communicate key customer satisfaction measurements (OTIF, DI, Response Time, etc)Ensuring ongoing compliance to the established systemsAssist the plant manager with any issues regarding quality investigation or quality reportingCoordinate timely, formal preventive action responses to customer complaintsCustomer liaison activity where appropriateManaging the daily activity of the quality staff to possibly include lead persons, auditors, lab personnel and clerical positionsWorking with Corporate Quality on developing and implementing standardized processesEstablish and maintain Statistical Process Control as a working tool within the facilityTraining of plant personnel in quality processes & standardsAs the functioning ISO facility representative (where appropriate) develop, implement and maintain the ISO conforming Quality and Documentation SystemOn-going maintenance of certification programs for both the plant and personnelCompliance:Ensure that material components (resin, inks, pigments, etc.) conform to federal and state regulationsAssist the plant manager with issues regarding site environmental, safety and housekeeping issuesAssess environmental risks relating to lading spills resulting from defective containersEnsure that all federal and local UN, DOT, EPA and FDA regulations are being conformed to and that reporting is being kept up to date.Training of applicable plant personnel in all compliance-related activities (including facilitating HAZMAT (DOT) General Awareness Training)Monitor & maintain plant compliance with AIB standardsOther Duties:Changing the culture from the current “product” mind set to one that is “process” orientedDeveloping and implementing initial quality systems, standards and processesDevelop a quality team capable of enhancing and maintaining a successful quality processManage increasing volumes and part complexity into the quality system quickly and efficientlyAssist new product development through the application of effective, specialized (when necessary) quality processes and proceduresConsistently meet regulatory requirements Other duties or special projects as assigned Requirements:College degree preferably in engineering or businessMinimum of 5 years mfg quality systems experience with at least 2 years in a leadership roleExperience with customer, vendor and sales force interactionUnderstanding of UN, DOT, EPA and FDA requirements on a federal and local level or the ability to quickly be educated in those areasISO9000 and/or AIB experience desiredExperience in plastic manufacturing processes such as injection and/or blow moldingSolid background in statistical measuring & problem-solving tools as SPC, Root Cause, PDCA, etc.Formal Auditor training desiredUnion and non-union experience are both desirableExperience in cost reduction, production efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities are also very desirableKey Competencies Required:The ability to be a change agent and turn “compliance” into “commitment”.The ability to work and lead effectively in a team environment.Good organization, planning & written communication skillsEffective, active problem-solving skillsLeadership traits and skills such as listening, providing feedback, ability to work independentlyAbility to train and educate plant personnel in quality systems and problem-solving toolsThorough understanding of mfg quality system requirements.Familiarity with UN, DOT, EPA, FDA and other federal and local regulatory requirements.Working knowledge and ability to use MS OfficeThe ability to effectively lead a process improvement teamDevelop and make formal presentations within the organization and with customersDo you want to work with people who are dedicated to innovation and making the world a better place?
