Job Summary

Ensures continuity of patient care by providing patient care equipment and supplies to caregiver units. Distributes medicalsupplies and equipment. Manages hospital supply par levels on caregiver units which includes counting, restocking andmaintaining the par level units. Cleans, prepares, and transports medical equipment as appropriate. Manages bulkinventories of medical and supply items. Coordinates closely with patient care units and other Mon Health official assetinventory locations to efficiently operate servicing of supplies and equipment. Utilizes the hospital's inventory system toreceive shipments and maintain perpetual inventories. Counts, stocks, picks, and replenishes house-wide inventories.Stocks and labels patient charge supplies. Processes department requisitions daily. Utilizes multiple computer systems inthe performance of job duties. Updates and maintains computerized records in Health System ERP computer systems. On a scheduled basis, coordinates basic Hospital Mailroom functions involving interoffice mail management to ensureaccurate and timely distribution of System mail. Assists with USPS mail management in conjunction with 3rd party mail vendor. Efficiently and accurately meters, mails, certifies, sorts, and distributes to the appropriate mail boxesall Mon Health System incoming, outgoing and internal mail.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain ClerkDelivers available equipment upon request. Checks return supply areas and returns dirty equipment to the decontamination area. Always assembles/removes traction upon request and returns traction equipment to the tractionstorage room. Remains effective in all task functions and demonstrates ability to work independently and prioritizeand manage responsibilities. Communicates effectively with Physicians/Nursing personnel and other coworkers. Troubleshootsissues and is responsive to needs. Incorporates broad-based knowledge of slang/clinical linguistics and demonstrates ability to interpretand remain effective. Discussed with nursing any issues pertaining to supply items and addresses any supply or stockingissues within assigned area. Keys and fills all telephone and walk-ins orders completely and accurately. Maintains preset supply levels (linen, medical supplies, nurse servers, etc.) on units by visuallychecking levels of items, completing restock orders and replenishing items to meet customer needs. Avoids the use of outdated supplies by checking expiration dates and rotates stock as items arebeing shelved. Notifies the Inventory Control Clerk or department Supervisor of potential outdates or brokenitems. Cleans and dusts assigned area on a routine basis. Ensures the availability of equipment by checking clean supply areas for excess supplies, and bychecking soiled return rooms for dirty equipment, then take soiled equipment to decontamination for cleaning. Ensures all supply items are properly checked against pick list to ensure accuracy. Rotates stock according to protocol when a new product is converted when stock is being shelved. Ensures neatness of supplies when restocking supply carts or pulling supply items from the MDCshelves. Assures that all necessary check lists, shelf labels and supply restock forms are kept up to date. Properly completes credit sheet and places all returned items to their proper bin location. Accurately completes the Out/Low Report when items are at or below the established report level. Accurately completes as necessary the ordering, pulling and restocking of E-Carts. Verifies and confirms pick lists in the material management system with actual items taken from inventory. Opens and stages stock daily to set par levels, as required in assign area. Assures that patient chargeable items are stickered properly according to departmental policy andprocedure. Performs assigned responsibilities within established timeframes.

Supply Chain Clerk Customer ServiceUnderstands and practices principles of confidentiality and security with respect to all forms ofinformation as applicable to patients, employees, guests and hospital systems. Responds to inquiries in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner. Promptly answers phones in a polite, professional and courteous manner. Handles all communications in a polite and courteous manner. Interacts with coworkers, patients, visitors and medical staff in a business-like, professional and friendly manner.

MailProcesses inbound US Post Office mail by sorting and placing mail into the appropriate mail boxes. Processes outbound US mail (stamped and mail requiring posting) according to establishedguidelines and staged by 2pm for pickup by our outside mail vendor for processing and delivery to the US Post Office. Logs inbound and outbound Certified Mail in the appropriate logbook. Stages outbound certified mailfor pickup by outside vendor to be processed and delivered to US Post office. Stages inbound certified mail tobe signed for by department/recipient. Assures that mail for physicians' offices and off site facilities are prepared for courier pickup. Ensures stat mailings (received prior to scheduled pick up by outside mail processing vendor) aresent out the same day 100% of the time. Sends X-Rays to Receiving for mailing via UPS. Maintains a clean and orderly work space. Answers Mailroom phone in a polite, professional manner. Trains new employees on Mailroom procedures as needed.

Mail Room Customer ServiceMakes suggestions on ways to improve the system. Understands and practices principles of confidentiality and security with respect to all forms ofinformation as applicable to patients, employees, guests and hospital systems. Responds to inquires in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner. Interacts with coworkers, patients, visitors and medical staff in a business-like, professional andfriendly manner.

Performs Other Duties as RequiredAttends mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and actively participates in self-education. Completes On-Line CE on time. Completes all required competency assessments on time. Takes initiative to assist co-workers when needed. Helps to train new employees on MDC procedures as needed. Maintains a clean and well-organized work environment (i.e. floors are swept, shelves are clean,empty boxes are disposed of, supplies are well organized, etc). Maintains required job knowledge (e.g. licensure and credentials, continuing education etc.). Is crossed trained in other areas of the Materials Distribution department and preforms otherdepartment related duties as assigned. Utilizes down time to assist others and/or complete other related job duties. Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.

Ability to work at a fast pace, read and write, and perform various tasks. 2-3 yearsInventory handling required, Hospital experience preferred.
