Position Role Type

The Quest Defense Product Definition Team seeks a highly focused and skilled Product Drafting / Model Based Definition Technical Leader who is an experienced, team player with a high level of initiative and the ability to lead in an environment of swiftly changing priorities in defining and releasing complex aerospace products.

What you will be doing:

Product Definition at the customer is a combination of two key areas of expertise: traditional drafting and the future of model-based definition. The successful applicant will have the flexibility and experience to lead both types of practice in an aerospace environment. When leading this team, you will lead engineering staff who produce 3D models and 2D layout drawings of the product to meet both engineering and customer requirements. Your team will be responsible for creating solid models and detailed drawings of various military aircraft components and assemblies across many sub-system and/or jet engine mod centers. The team will also be performing tolerance studies, and making sure that the models and drawings accurately define a manufacturable product for military development programs.

Experience with industry specifications and in-depth knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is important to ensure all drawings the team completes are accurate, fully dimensioned and in alignment with tolerance studies.

A relevant past, or educational experience in designing, developing, and analyzing complex assemblies in a 3D mechanical drafting environment is required. The candidate would benefit from strong understanding of mechanical principles and demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting models, assemblies, and piece part drawings. An in-depth comprehension of GD&T practices, along with the tolerance analysis of assemblies and piece parts is required.

This role is a 40 hour work week, with at least 25 hours at the customer's Connecticut site with the team.

Primary Responsibilities:Lead from a technical approach a team of 10-15 practitioners who work drafting and model-based definition for development jet engine components and assembliesLead from a technical approach a team that creates 3D CAD solid models and assemblies in Siemens NX, with Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and some Bill of MaterialsLead from a technical approach a team that creates dimensioned detail drawings for high complexity jet engine and aircraft system components and assembliesSet and maintain training standards and adoption cadenceSet the standards for how the team applies tolerance stack-up analysis results to ensure correct fit and alignment, and performance of complex assembliesLead from a technical approach the team in how they check drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance to the aerospace industry and customer drafting and manufacturing standardsSupport product definition reviews and coordinate work across many different sub-systems and modules for the aircraft system/jet engineLead and execute the creation and maintenance of standard work for Product Design and Definition group, especially as MBD evolvesLead from a technical approach the team to effectively comprehend and implement oral and written inputs from several different customersRepresent Quest Defense in customer interactions/meetings, ranging from customer executive meetings to execution level engineersStrict adherence to the design process is mandatory for successful realization of accurate models and drawings for our demanding customers. Attention to detail is critical to ensure a safe and reliable product definition is placed into service.Qualifications/Experience Needed:

A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experienceIn-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.5M 2018 GD&T standardsWorking knowledge of drafting and product life cycle (PLM) tools and general computer literacyU.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and to be eligible for a security clearanceMust possess or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirementsWorking in East Hartford and Windsor Locks, CTPreferred Qualifications:

BSME or Advanced Engineering Degree and 10+ years of experienceExperience with Siemens NX CAD Drafting and MBD and Teamcenter PLM in the design or definition of mechanical engine components and assemblies #cjPhysical Requirements & Work Environment:
