Position Summary:

The FHBC Next Gen Pastor is responsible for leading and developing the spiritual growth of the children, youth and young adults in the church (birth through college and career). This position involves creating and implementing programs that align with the church's vision/mission to support the spiritual development of children and youth from infancy through young adult, aiming to cultivate a deep, Christ-centered faith in the next generation.

For questions about the position please contact Cynthia Baxter atKey Responsibilities:Ministry Leadership:Develop and implement a Christ-centered vision for discipleship that aligns with the church's overall vision/mission and facilitates deep scriptural understanding and application.Oversee all aspects of the next generation ministry age-specific programs, including Sunday School, youth group, young adult Bible studies, and special events. Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist in the execution of these next generation programs.Recruit, develop and assist directors/coordinators/teachers for nursery, preschool, Vacation Bible School and children's worship services.Provide pastoral care, counseling, and mentorship to children, youth and young adults, guiding them in their spiritual growth.Collaborate with other church staff/leaders to integrate Next Gen programs into broader church activities and worship.Participate in a weekly Sunday School class or Sunday evening small group as a member and not a leader to continue to grow and be fed spiritually.Community and Church Engagement:Foster connections with local schools, colleges, and community organizations to extend the church's reach and engage with families in the community.Plan and coordinate outreach events and service projects that allow children, youth, young adults, families and all church members the opportunity to join God at work in our community and live out their faith.Administrative Responsibilities:Develop and manage the budget for next generation ministries.Maintain records of participation, events and outreach efforts.Communicate and engage regularly with parents, volunteers, and the congregation about ministry activities and objectives.Ensure compliance with church policies, especially those related to child safety.General Pastoral Duties:Participate in staff meetings and other church meetings/committees as appropriate.Assist in worship services, including occasional preaching and leading prayer.Qualifications:A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for youth and children's ministry.Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or education is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.Previous experience in youth and/or children's ministry.Strong biblical knowledge and the ability to teach, connect with and relate to children, youth and young adults.Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.Creative and energetic, with a heart for mentoring and developing young believers.Proficiency in using technology and social media for ministry purposes.Must pass a background check and adhere to the church's child protection policies.Working Conditions:The role may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate program schedules and special events.Physical requirements may include lifting supplies and equipment, setting up and tearing down event spaces, and engaging in physical activities with youth and children.Payment Type:
