Seeking a Linux/Windows Operator / Jr. System Administrator to provide critical support to MITRE R&D Labs. Grow your system administration skills by operating core infrastructure components. Perform Linux / Windows troubleshooting and configuration, account management, software installation and system monitoring support for dynamic lab environments. Interact and collaborate directly with senior-level IT system architects on new designs and processes. The ideal candidate will be highly energized by the opportunity to work on a world-class team designing and operating advanced server, network, Cloud, and Big Data analytics architectures in support of MITRE labs. The candidate best suited for the position will thrive in a highly dynamic environment, easily performing limited independent work, as well as working comfortably in team settings.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Requires constant communication with Senior staff and customers.

Windows NESSUS scans and system patching

Provision virtual machines and perform bare-metal OS installations with RedHat, CentOS Linux / Windows

Lab customer and end user support

Add, remove, and modify local and centralized user accounts/identities

Acknowledge, categorize, and provide basic triage for incoming tickets

Physical configuration support on lab floors: rearrange lab consoles, workstations, cabling

Provide data center operations support: server tagging and racking, network patching and cable management, property, and data center management.

Monitor computer systems (up/down, threshold) and network resources and perform basic troubleshooting.

Provide basic Linux OS support: user environments, dotfiles, X/Wayland configs, ssh, routing yum installs/updates

Ensure on-site and remote backup and restore systems are operational (VEEAM)

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Candidate should have experience with some of the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux / CentOS, Shell, Perl and/or Python scripting, general system administrations tasks

Administering VMware ESX 6 instances of Linux and Windows hosts\VMs

Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work independently and as member of a team, Travel may be necessary on occasion

Knowledge of FIPS-199, NIST SP800-53 rev.4, NIST SP800-171, and DISA STIGs are a plus

This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
