UX Specialist
to be part of the mission solution and help lead SSA’s Digital Modernization Strategy. Join one of our high performing teams responsible for building the next-generation enterprise APIs and modern responsive user interfaces, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and their mission to meet the changing needs of the public, positively impacting at least 65 million American lives per month. these key required skills
: Strong knowledge of user-centered design (UCD) principles to include documenting user requirements and user needs (and pain points); Interaction/Interface design experience utilizing user-centered methods; designing and conducting formative various user research tests (including user interviews, contextual inquiry, card sorting, usability tests, and others) in both formal and informal settings; and experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings (max 255 characters)

Derive business processes, analyze user needs, assist in requirements definition, design browser-based interfaces, and design and conduct usability testing
Elicit business goals and user needs from stakeholders
Facilitate customer discovery sessions
Create Conceptual Models, Journey Maps, Personas and Scenarios of Use
Create and refine screen prototypes
Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS

Basic Qualifications
)
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
Minimum of 6 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.

must reside within two (2) hours of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD
***** Selected candidate must be willing to work on-site at least 2 days a week.**

Minimum of 6 years of experience documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
Minimum of 4 year of experience in designing and conducting formative usability tests in both formal and informal
settings
Minimum of 4 year of experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings
Must provide a digital portfolio of design work for review
BS Degree or additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD

Showcase your knowledge of modern development through the following experience or skills:
Experience using Axure RP prototyping software
Experience with AdobeXD prototyping software
Experience with Pega and/or ServiceNow platforms
Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology
Understanding of responsive design
Prior experience supporting government agencies
Understanding of Section 508 and its requirements regarding design
Hold additional UX Certifications such as UX Master Certification (NN/g) or UX Design Immersive (General Assembly)
