This commitment is made clear by the superior meat and seafood specialty products we distribute.There's a seat at our table for you...Position Summary:The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing and performing a number of key duties critical to ensuring distribution operations compliance for vendors, customers and internal quality. Leads the daily operations on the production floors to ensure all required paperwork and equipment is available to the QA techs. Verifies all food safety and quality monitoring checks are performed and meet company/customer specifications/requirements. Implements the corrective and preventative measure resulting in customer complaints for both food safety and quality. Overseas training of all QA tech to ensure completion of daily operations consisting of HACCP, GMP's, SSOP's, SOP's, Product Specifications, and Shipped and/or Receiving of Finished Product. Feel in for abscess or vacation of QA Tech as needed. Essential Functions:Ensure continuous improvement and adequacy of quality control systems to support business and customer expectations.Enforce processes and programs for Food Safety/Safety Programs to ensure regulatory compliance, including those utilized by Halperns' divisions (e.g., Food Safety plans, Preventive Control plans, Meat HACCP plans, Seafood HACCP plans). Ensures validation and adequacy of the programs.Conduct quality control audits.Manage audits/inspections for internal production runs. .Ensures the adequacy and continuous improvement of Halperns' management expectations.Collaborates with stakeholders to provide quality control subject matter expertise to support the division during quality complaints.Performs other duties as assigned.Ability to respond to NR's (Non-compliance Report) received from USDAAbility to perform mock recalls and aid in regulatory and food safety auditsAll other tasks surrounding and/or involving QA/QC Technical Services dutiesKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:Knowledge of governmental regulations (FDA/USDA/State Department of Agriculture) as applied to quality assurance/food safety.Must be detail-oriented and display good project management and organizational skills.Must be able to prioritize, and schedule accordingly, on multiple tasks simultaneously.Must possess and display excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must demonstrate the ability to produce results through effective, cross-functional teams and partnerships, working collaboratively with a variety of teams and individuals, including possessing the willingness to engage with others and be challenged.Must have the ability to listen, interpret, and determine appropriate direction based on established protocols, or identify needs for new or revised protocols and lead their development and implementation.Interpersonal skills include the ability to work independently and in a team environment, coaching, and mentoring skills. Leadership abilities and a positive attitude with a commitment to personal and professional success.This position also requires a professional demeanor, honesty, integrity, drive, tenacity, determination, and a willingness to learn.Must possess strong analytical, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Equipment / Tools / Technology:Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, email, and internet software applications.Knowledge of Inventory Management Systems and reporting software applications preferred.Knowledge of Google applications (sheets, docs, forms etc.)Educational & Experience Requirements:Experience: 3-5 years in the food industry, specializing in one or more of the following areas: Red Meat, Seafood, Poultry, Pork, or Lamb, with a focus on Quality Assurance.Qualifications: A minimum of three years in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and/or Food Safety is required. Experience in retail, operations process management, and data reporting/analysis is highly preferred.Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the startup, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
