The Information Technology Bureau within the Police Department currently has two vacancies for a Senior User Technology Specialist (SUTS) in the Identity & Access Management Team.
Active Directory Senior User Technology Specialist
The Active Directory Senior User Technology Specialist provides technical support for day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Police Department's Active Directory. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining our Active Directory services and infrastructure, ensuring its security, availability, and performance. This role requires a deep understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy. The Active Director Senior is responsible for asset management, vendor coordination, and cooperative participation with customers and partners to promote continuous service improvement. This position also involves ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices. This position will be reasonable for ensuring the CJIS Policy is met. The SUTS will conduct CJIS compliance reviews of applications, and individuals, institutions and provide recommendations. This position requires Terminal Operator Certification (TOC). Additionally, the position will take part in the weekly on-call rotation.
Network Senior User Technology Specialist
The Network Senior User Technology Specialist provides technical support for day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Police Department's network. The Network Senior User Technology Specialist will be responsible for installing, managing and maintaining critical department networking equipment including routers, switches, DWDM and wireless network environments. This position performs hands-on support to devices located throughout all connected Police department facilities and support the Police Department's multiple remote sites and data center equipment to support public safety. The SUTS position will be responsible for the on-going support and configuration of the department's Cisco environment including CISCO 7k, 5k, and distribution switches. Additionally, the position will take part in the weekly on-call rotation.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Ability to:
Develop specifications, quotes, and requirements for hardware.Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.Be proficient in day-to-day technical server/desktop maintenance and troubleshooting, implementation of technology projects, and writing business & technical requirements.Have a proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork, with a focus on continuous learning and professional development to stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in IT support and security.
Skills:
Excellent time management and communication skills.Relevant certifications in IT, such as Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, Security+), or certifications specific to help desk support, networking, or security.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure, providing timely and effective technical support to end users.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
SALARY
Hiring Range: $78,540.80 to $110,510.40 annually.
Pay Range: $78,540.80 to $105,248 annually.
Pay Range Explanation:
Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of PC, server, switching, routing, and multiplexing hardware and software OR two years of experience in installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems or telephone station equipment, systems, and related distribution telecommunications systems.15 hours of appropriate information technology course work including training or experience with one or more workstation computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.The City job description can be found here .All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Hands-on experience supporting Cisco networking equipment such as routers and switches.Design, configure, install, and support of Cisco wireless networking equipment.Securing sensitive networks and working with information security policies.Cisco certification of CCNA or higher.Providing IT support to Public Sector.Working with industry-standard help desk software such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar platforms, demonstrating proficiency in ticket management and end-user support.VPN solutions, particularly with NetMotion Mobility or similar platforms, including configuring, troubleshooting, and securing remote connections.Wireless technologies and networking protocols, with the ability to troubleshoot wireless connectivity issues and optimize network performance for end users.Inventory management and control procedures.
