Job Title: HR Generalist

Job Description

This person will be responsible for managing various HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employment verification, background checks, benefits administration, open enrollment, unemployment tracking, employee relations, and ensuring compliance with HR laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR processes and be able to maintain and improve existing systems. The ideal person has multiple years of experience working in HR at the head of the department, and not being guided by anyone else.

ResponsibilitiesRecruiting and hiring process, including finding candidates for positionsCandidate screening for interviews for department headsNew hire onboardingEmployment verifications and background checksH-2B process, coordination, and administrationManaging layoffs and terminationsBenefits administration, renewals, and open enrollmentReconciling and approving benefits invoicesUnemployment tracking and requirementsCOBRA and 401k administrationACA (Affordable Care Act) recordingEmployee relationsMUST program and physical tracking and administrationDrug testing, MUST, and physicalsKeeping OSHA forms up to date as neededAccident tracking and claimsEmployee asset tracking, including keys, lockers, tablets, etc.Creating folders, tracking, and Vista updates for employee reviewsKeeping current on HR laws and policiesManaging employee portal and library documentsEvent planningEssential Skills

Minimum 3+ years experience in HR Generalist or HR Manager roleExperience leading an HR department or being the sole HR representativeExperience working in construction, manufacturing, or shop environmentAbility to work with employees at all levelsKnowledge of HR laws and policiesAdditional Skills & Qualifications

Over 5 years experience in Human ResourcesUnion experience or labor relationsHR experience in a construction companyExperience with 'Vista' or 'Viewpoint' software systemsWill be the lone HR rep onsiteAbout Aston Carter:
