Description
The Kentucky Department of Education is a premier service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Thedepartment provides resources and guidance to Kentucky's public schools and districts as they implement thestate's K-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal educationrequirements and funding opportunities. The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking and dependable Education Administration ProgramManager to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Under the general direction of the division director supervise professional staff in the development,coordination, implementation and monitoring the administration of educational programs for local schooldistricts, state or private educational agencies. Provide consultative services and technical assistance.Supervise professional and support staff. Provide consultative services, technical assistance, and directionto local education agencies and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) partners in the areas of school climateand culture, school mental health, trauma-informed practices, positive behavioral interventions and supports(PBIS), school safety, and school crisis response. Plan, develop, and implement strategies identified withinKDE strategic plans and division initiatives.Review the expenditures of federal funds and provide management staff with information regarding budget statuschanges. Manage the work of the branch by establishing priorities aligned with federal requirements as well asKentucky Board of Education and Kentucky Department of Education priorities. Assign task, monitor progress,and communicate KDE and office policies, procedures, and regulations.Collaborate with education partners including advisory committees, higher education, parent groups and otheragencies.Analyze proposed legislation relative to cost changes in the programs. Review and analyze project data,prepare presentations, budgets, research, reports, and testimony for the Kentucky Board of Education,legislative committees, federal agencies, and other partners, agencies, and boards.Annually review and revise branch materials, as needed, to maintain alignment with federal and state statutes,regulations and agency policies related to division and branch initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned.Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test andbackground check.
Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written releasefrom their superintendent prior to an offer of employment is given.
In accordance with KRS 161.220 the applicant selected for this position will become a member of the Teachers'Retirement System.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
