Neuro Cardiac Unit MS/Tele RN - Weekend Days - Newburgh, IN **AUTO OFFER**
NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start: 12/16- Bi-weekly orientation
Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request)
Primary location: Gateway
Shift Requirement: 12hr Weekend Days 6:30-7
Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY - 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every weekend. Every other holiday.
Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.
Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Tele/Med/Surg, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience. Charge nurse experience preferred.
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)
Patient Population: Complex Med/Surg/Tele patients. Post cardiac caths with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD. Complex abdominal surgeries (open bellies/colons), oncology, cranis POD 2.
Skillset:
REQUIRED: NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong neuro assessement skills. Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers are required to pass a tele test), Intitate/titrate drips (Insulin, cardiac, Heparin, etc.), heart cath recovery (fem. & TR bands). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!
PREFERRED: NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, Tikosyn doing, chest tubes.
Hard worker, resilient and manages change well, social candidates
Unit Information: 32 beds. Ratio: Days 1:4-5/6 (six is very rare); NOCs 1:6-7; CN takes assignment on all shifts.
Unit Strengths: Welcoming and fun staff, proactive charge nurses, knowledgeable and helpful clerical support.
Scrub Colors: Navy blue scrubs

As a professional practitioner, the RN - Telemetry assumes the responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care of telemetry patients. The RN - Telemetry demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner, with supervision. The RN - Telemetry exhibits critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care, and consistently performs according to nursing standards while remaining accountable for providing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on telemetry unitPerforms focused interview to identify specific patient needsAssesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's conditionMonitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of any changesRecords vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, etc.Monitors patient progress and updates patient medical records as neededResponds to patients experiencing cardiac painPerforms various diagnostic testsManages and administers medicationMonitors and uses the electrocardiogram, EKG, or ECGEducates patients on cardiac health and communicates with patient's family when applicableAdministers tests, analyzes lab results, and reports them to the physicianDocuments the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventionsIdentifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirementsPerforms interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standardProvides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environmentRevises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventionsDocuments patient's response to nursing and other interventionsUses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including established prioritiesMonitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practicesOne year experience in Telemetry PreferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
