About the role:
Reporting to Ruroc’s Tech Director, you will be instrumental to our small team of web developers by developing new features for the website whilst maintaining existing ones. You’ll also provide valuable input on technical decisions to ensure development is taking the best possible approach. You will be hands-on with the codebase, and therefore will be contributing significantly to the development of major features that the team works on.We are seeking a highly skilled Full-Stack Magento Developer with strong experience in building scalable, predictable, high-quality, and high-performance eCommerce applications. You will be given the opportunity to work on major systems/projects on a cutting-edge technology stack within a fast-paced development environment.Core responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Develop major features and maintain existing ones. To do this, you will need to know the front-end and back-end codebase inside-out and be confident developing for Magento 2.Be responsible, with the rest of the team, for the front-end of the website, including both the UI and UX.Design and develop concepts for stakeholders which meet both their and our customer’s needs.Write clean, efficient code which meets the project’s quality standards, and suggest changes to those standards where necessary.Collaborate with the team to define technical requirements for new features. The business is constantly evolving, and the requirements should always keep this in mind. Features will have to be continuously updated - defining future-proof requirements will assist with this.Provide assistance to other developers where required to help execute these goals.Occasionally vet third-party code that is introduced to the codebase to ensure that it meets standards, and that it meets Magento’s best practices as well as our codebase’s.Able to handle work for both campaigns and BAU, often at the same time.Use both your Magento and software development expertise to occasionally assist with improving our team’s efficiency and effectiveness via new software, tools, processes, etc.Review pull requests from other developers to ensure they meet the tech team’s quality standards, and that it’s the correct approach to the feature/problem.This role is for you if you:Have experience in both providing and implementing website designs with HTML and CSS to model standards.Have experience with JavaScript to assist feature development.Have experience working in web development teams and know how they operate.Know Magento 2 inside-out and know how to make a website flourish with it.Have a keen eye for design, you should always be nit-picking the website.Are able to produce prototypes for visual designs for stakeholders.Are able to work with brand guidelines, whilst continuously improving on them.Have excellent interpersonal skills – you must be able to work well with both the Tech team and other teams.Are capable of working independently and being self-directed when needed.Are a quick learner who can process lots of information and prioritise action.Have a solid PHP-orientated background.Write future-proof, performance-driven code.Possess hands-on experience with MySQL.Have practical user knowledge of Docker.Exceptional problem-solving skills.Magento certifications are a plus.Technologies Desired:HTML 5MySQLDockerHyväCeligoCSS/SASS/LESSPHPJIRAAlpine.jsNetSuiteJavaScriptGITAzure / AWSTailwind CSSThe Offer:Up to £55,000 per annum DOE.26 days annual leave plus bank holidays.Flexible working around our core hours of 10:00 - 16:00.Remote working with expectations to visit our HQ in Gloucester as and when required (typically 1-2 times per year).Private health insurance with Vitality.Enhanced maternity and paternity entitlements.Wellbeing support with our employee assistance programme - Health Assured.Free personal training sessions in our in-house, purpose-built gym.Free Ruroc products, plus 50% friends and family discount.Contribution towards skiing/snowboarding lessons and your CBT/motorcycle lessons.
