The position will work directly with our engineering team in San Mateo, CA to evolve our elastic, large scale, high-performance computing environment. We need strong engineers who can pick up and understand complex technical areas quickly and who are enthusiastic about building new technologies! This role has the potential to work in a variety of product areas, including making contributions to open source big data projects.AS A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:

Design and develop features, understand customer requirements, and meet business goalsBuild highly reliable software to meet the needs of the largest customersEnhance the programmability surface of Snowflake and improve the experience of the data developerContribute to big data open source projects to add connectivity and support for SnowflakeAnalyze fault-tolerance and high availability issues, performance and scale challenges, and solve themEnsure operational readiness of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability, and performanceOUR IDEAL SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:

7+ years industry experience designing and building distributed systems, database systems, compilers, or other enterprise cloud data platformsExperience building enterprise grade, reliable and trustworthy software or servicesExtremely strong fundamental computer science skillsFluency in Java and/or C++Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineersAbility to work on-site in our downtown Bellevue officeAdvanced degree in Computer Science or related fieldBONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:

SQL and/or other database technologies including internal implementationsData warehouse architecture, design, and experience working with large-scale data processing solutionsASF open source projects, ideally from the big-data/Hadoop ecosystemImplementation testing, debugging, documentation, query compilation, compiler design and implementationCloud infrastructure, AWS in particularDelivering compelling experiences in SaaS or web-based solutionsImplementing multi-tenant systems, with focus on isolation and securityDesigning and implementing systems for public or private cloudsWHY JOIN THE ENGINEERING TEAM AT SNOWFLAKE?
