Associate Director, Research

to serve as an Associate Investigator on all sponsored studies and will report directly to the Director/Principal Investigator.This position will be in support of the Military Women's Health Research Program at the Uniformed Services University.The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing, and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

Provides oversight and operational leadership for the day-to-day management of clinical research activities, problem solves research-related issues, serves as a liaison for communicating with research implementation sites, and ensures effective use of resources and personnel time.Maintains effective and timely communication with scientific collaborators; demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.Assists in decisions involving the usage of grant funds for the conduct of various research activities.Meets sponsor and regulatory-related requirements by ensuring that all communications with study’s sponsors and regulatory boards are conducted in a timely and effective manner.Designs and plans for new activities and projects – and assists with the preparation and submission of applications to secure intramural and extramural funding to further support the activities of the program.Prepares scholarly manuscripts for publication and presents at national and/or international conferences in order to disseminate the research; regularly participates in continuing education and provides didactics to disseminate this knowledge to other personnel.May include budgetary responsibility to include plan/forecast, prepare, and approve.May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and ExperienceMaster’s Degree is required. Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related scientific discipline is preferred.Minimum of 6-8 years of experience required.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesSignificant knowledge of military women's health research.Health and military systems knowledge.Thorough knowledge and understanding of DOD organizational structure, community, training requirements, safety requirements and culture.Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing; identify and resolve problems.Experience with health systems research.The ability to obtain and/or maintain a T1 Public Trust with CAC.Licenses and CertificationsActive License to Practice Nursing.Physical CapabilitiesLifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.Work EnvironmentThis position will take place primarily in a virtual setting.CompensationThis is a part-time position that is not to exceed 16 hours per pay week with an hourly pay rate of $90/hr. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.Some HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
