Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A law firm located in White Plains, NY, is seeking a dedicated and driven Litigation Associate Attorney. This role requires expertise in various areas of litigation, with a strong emphasis on foreclosure defense, landlord/tenant law, divorce, family law, general litigation, criminal defense, probate, and real estate. The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of litigation experience and must be admitted to the New York and Connecticut bars. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. The candidate must be a team player, willing to handle multiple tasks, and committed to growing as a litigation attorney.
Duties:
Prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs.
Appear in various courts (both in-person and virtually).
Manage cases through the entire litigation process.
Develop cost-effective litigation strategies for cases.
Review new case files and assess coverage issues.
Represent clients in diverse legal matters, including but not limited to family law, foreclosure, landlord/tenant issues, and real estate.
Handle a high volume of cases while maintaining accuracy and strategic thinking.
Work directly with clients, many of whom are Spanish-speaking.
Organize and track case statuses, and manage attorney calendars and court appearances.
Conduct legal research and analysis of legal documents.
Assist in building and maintaining client relationships.
Requirements:
Admitted to the New York State Bar.
Admitted to the Connecticut State Bar.
2-5 years of experience in litigation.
Experience with foreclosure defense, landlord/tenant law, family law, criminal defense, and real estate law.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Ability to work directly with clients, particularly Spanish-speaking individuals.
Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
Admission to the Connecticut State Bar (required).
Additional Bar admissions in New Jersey or federal courts are a plus.
Skills:
Fluency in Spanish (preferred).
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent organization and time management.
Ability to multitask and work under tight schedules.
Strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
