Role Description We are seeking a caring and motivated Animal Care Technician to join us on-site at James Landing Veterinary Hospital. Available part-time, with potential to transition to full-time, this position is crucial in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and clean environment for pets in our care. The Animal Care Technician will be responsible for daily animal care, maintaining cleanliness and organization in our facility, monitoring pet health, and assisting with pet handling and basic grooming. This role is perfect for a compassionate individual passionate about animal welfare and committed to supporting our veterinary team. Responsibilities 1. Pet Care and Comfort : Ensure each pet receives attentive care, including feeding, exercise, and maintaining a calm, safe environment. 2. Facility Cleanliness : Maintain a clean and organized facility by thoroughly disinfecting kennels and surrounding areas, ensuring a hygienic and welcoming space. 3. Health Monitoring : Observe and document each pet’s behavior and health, promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. 4. Pet Handling and Grooming : Assist with handling animals during basic grooming tasks, such as brushing and nail trimming, and support with animal restraint as needed. 5. Client Interaction : Greet pet owners during drop-off and pick-up, providing updates on their pet’s stay and addressing any questions with a friendly demeanor. Key Qualifications - Animal Care Background : Experience with animals in a veterinary clinic, kennel, or shelter setting is preferred. - Team Collaboration : Comfortable working closely with the veterinary team to support patient care and clinic operations. - Physical Fitness : Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting throughout the day. - Attention to Detail : Diligent in providing quality care and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. - Effective Communication : Able to interact professionally with both team members and clients, providing updates and assistance as needed. Preferred - Experience in a veterinary, kennel, or shelter environment. - Basic knowledge of animal handling techniques.
