Sr. Materials Manager

Scope of Position
The Sr. Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the supply chain to ensure timely availability of components, both internally and externally sourced, to meet the Master Production Schedule and lead-times. This role involves managing raw and WIP (Work in Process) inventory within set limits, leveraging SAP systems, and leading a team of purchasing, planning, and scheduling employees to support operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Use SAP to generate purchase and shop orders aligned with the master production schedule.Implement strategies to minimize component shortages and inventory levels of raw materials and WIP.Monitor and manage capacity loads across internal work centers to maintain and reduce lead times, using continuous improvement practices.Develop and maintain capacity planning tools to anticipate and address any production constraints.Partner with Purchasing to cultivate strong vendor relationships aimed at cost reduction, shorter lead-times, quality improvement, and enhanced on-time performance.Set inventory objectives and adjust ordering practices to achieve target inventory turnover rates.Oversee material logistics within the component supply chain and manage programs to address excess and obsolete inventory.Review and manage all Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) related to manufactured or purchased components.Lead and develop a team of buyers, planners, and schedulers by directing workload, managing performance, and providing ongoing coaching.Qualifications
7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with SAP proficiency.Strong analytical skills to synthesize and interpret complex data, coupled with effective problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication skills, with experience in leading meetings and presenting to groups in a clear, persuasive manner.Proven ability to delegate effectively, set clear expectations, and monitor outcomes.Leadership experience with a focus on staff development, team inclusion in decision-making, and continuous process improvement.Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.Decisive judgment, with a track record of sound decision-making.Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and create actionable plans.Flexibility to adapt to evolving facility needs, including the integration of new systems and processes.Key Competencies:
