Reporting to the Executive Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Senior Decision Support Analyst collaborates with operational leaders to align expenses with revenue and create meaningful financial reports. This role involves optimizing cost structures, implementing advanced cost accounting models, and supporting strategic decision-making through data analysis and business intelligence tools. The senior analyst will play a key role in budgeting, productivity analysis, and departmental initiatives to advance South Shore Health's financial goals.Key Responsibilities:Financial Analysis & Cost Accounting:
Manage multi-dimensional projects requiring collaboration with interdisciplinary departments, providing hospital/divisional cost and statistical analysis to guide decision-making, applying process improvement and/or Six-Sigma techniques and strategies into the end product.Collaborate with Patient Care Managers, Program Directors, and senior leaders to review cost centers and align expenses with revenue.Develop and optimize cost models, ensuring accurate cost allocation and profit and loss statements.Assist in implementing a new budgeting and cost accounting platform, performing audits, defining data structures, and assigning RVUs for chargeable items.Review measures to accurately define, identify, and report on volume and resulting productivity analysis.
Data Reporting & Business Intelligence:
Aggregate and present clinical and administrative data to support strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making.Design and maintain insightful dashboards, automate processes, and educate staff on decision support tools for efficient data use.Mentor junior team members and provide training on data tools and reporting methods.
Strategic Insights & Collaboration:
Identify key insights and performance drivers to support program optimization, budgeting, and quality initiatives.Partner with stakeholders to develop reports, facilitate productivity analysis, and document processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree or MBA in Healthcare Administration preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in a professional setting, with healthcare experience preferred.Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of cost accounting and decision support principles.Advanced proficiency in decision support tools (e.g., Strata, EPSi, Syntellis).Skilled in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Core Competencies:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.Proven analytical skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.Effective problem-solving and project management capabilities.
