First Merchants Bank is seeking a Consumer Underwriter I to join our team! This position will provide underwriting for direct and indirect, auto, home equity and miscellaneously secured and unsecured consumer loans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate the underwriting components such as loan to value, credit score, debt to income, payment history with bank and employment and properly mitigate policy or other exceptions when adjudicating a loan.Provide application system guidance to retail bankers and retail branches; advise on application, status, issues, loan structure and informational requests for application decision; ensuring adherence to all internal and regulatory compliance standardsAnalyze and document customer information including tax returns, pay stubs, financial statements and credit histories.Review collateral information to ensure proper loan to value and lien status. Information includes vehicle titles, real estate appraisals and real estate title work.Ensure accurate and timely adjudication to meet service level standards.Establish and maintain strong working relationships with retail bankers.Work with retail bankers to resolve problems and answer questions regarding loans.
In order to be successful in this role, we require the following:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).A minimum of two (2) years of loan underwriting, lending or related experience.First Merchants offers the following:
