The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the procurement and inventory control of indirect materials to support the production floor and maintenance departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.Review and confirm specifications, quantities, price, lead-times, and requirements on the Purchase Orders.Maintain and organize records and reports for efficient and timely referencing, as required by purchasing procedures.Prepares purchase orders and bid requests.Manage annual pricing on MRO. Pricing negotiations with support from direct Supervisor.Blanket Purchase Orders (BPO) indirect (support direct as needed)Review and follow up on past due Purchase OrdersSupport maintenance with materials required for scheduled PM'sMonitor and maintain inventory levels within established goals and develop supplier stocking programs.Communicate with suppliers regarding expediting, late deliveries, and pricing discrepanciesAssist Accounting to resolve receipt and payment discrepancies on purchase orders and invoicesAdheres to purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.With support from direct supervisor, negotiates best vendor terms, pricing, and delivery based on a specific budget and schedule requirements.Support Company/Department goals of reducing cost, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives.Assist department Supervisor and Buyers as neededInterfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues as necessary.Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent2 - 3 years of related job experienceFamiliarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systemsExcellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft ExcelAttention to small details as well as strong math skillsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as within a structured teamStrong knowledge of purchasing terminology and practices
