South Shore Stars is a not-for-profit organization providing the highest quality early education and youth development programs for the communities south of Boston. Founded in 1970, we annually serve over 1,200 children and youth age newborn through 18 years in a family child care system, preschool centers, school age centers, middle school programs, a high school program, and summer camp.

Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 1:30-6:00;

Wednesdays 11:00-6:00.

General Description:

As a member of the center team, help develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, creative, fun, developmentally appropriate program. This is a forty-four-week part-time, school year position.

Work with Center Director to develop and implement program goals and objectives.Develop strong, positive relationships with each child.Work with Center Director to develop age-appropriate activities and implement both individual and group activities, special projects and field trips.Work with Center Director to establish and maintain behavioral limits and classroom order.With Center Director guidance, communicate with parents regarding children's daily needs, interests, progress and concerns, referring parent concerns to the Center Director.Assist in keeping the center clean and organized.Assist in day-to-day transportation needs of the program as needed.Assist in menu planning and food preparation and purchase.Assist in record keeping.Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and appropriate trainings.Develop/follow through with annual evaluation goals and training plan.All other assigned tasks.Qualifications:

Meet DEEC qualifications for School Age Group Leader.High School Diploma completed one year college and in pursuit of degreeCommitment to completing relevant college courses.Two years' experience working with children in a formal setting.Willingness and ability to obtain MA 7D Driving License.Willingness to work a flexible schedule including full days during school vacations.Ability to set clear expectation and limits for children.High energy, warm and nurturing personality.Good interpersonal and communication skills.All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs and work in a non-sedentary environment.Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 1:30-6:00 and Wednesdays 11:00-6:00.
