Job Purpose
Provides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties
See gynecologic oncology patients, including, but not limited to: Gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy, post-operative patients, and survivorship patientsProvide chemotherapy teaching for gynecologic cancer regimensPatient education and counseling, including consents, survivorship, healthy lifestyle, and pre-operative counselingCancer and chemotherapy symptom managementOrder and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studiesPrescribing medicationsAnswering EPIC MyChart patient messagesBe available to answer questions from the infusion center (patient reactions, medication questions, etc)Participate in research and clinical trials.Track gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapyEnsure pre-operative patients who need pre-operative clearance is obtained and if needed, care coordination with other services and/or physicians that may be outside the BCM networkPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Education Required: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Master's degree in Nursing. NOTE: Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.Experience Required: None required.Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board, or current APRN license by Texas Board of Nursing. Specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
