The Department of Nursing within the Division of Nursing and Allied Health at
Baton Rouge Community College is seeking applications for a 9-month position at the rank of Instructor.
The Program of Nursing provides educational opportunities for individuals to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, values, and competencies for nursing practice. The curriculum is based on the Educational Competencies for Graduates of Associate Degree Nursing Programs of the National League for Nursing. Graduates will receive the associate of science degree in nursing and are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
REPORTS TO:
This position reports directly to the Nursing Department Chair.
COMPENSATION:
Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with education and work experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education:
* Licensed Louisiana RN * Master's Degree in Nursing or in progress
Required Experience:
* Minimum two (2) years hospital clinical nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Nursing education/training experience
Nursing faculty members are responsible for teaching courses assigned, student advising, college service, professional development, and promoting of a collegial atmosphere.
Faculty are expected to support the institution's mission and vision and abide by the Faculty Handbook and college-wide policies.
This position is based at the BRCC Frazier campus, however, some occasional future travel may be required to our other regional campuses as needed, with the ability to teach hybrid, online, and accelerated models of delivery preferred (experience with or willingness to gain training and approval). Faculty may be asked to teach (or train to teach) across multi-site (Video-conference based) courses as well. The full-time load for faculty at BRCC is 15 credit hours (contact hours) a semester, with opportunities to teach additional sections both during regular academic terms and summer as availability and need permits. Teaching
* Provides learning experiences in accordance with students' needs and abilities * Utilizes learning resources to help students learn * Assesses student learning in accordance with college policy * Provides each student with a course syllabus and schedule * Maintains a minimum of 10 office hours per week * Meets all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe * Advises students and assist with registration, orientation, and recruitment as needed * Follows the approved master course syllabi * Maintains accurate grade and attendance records * Submits syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic timesheets, and other reports by established deadlines
Administrative
* Notifies department chair of absence with course substitution plan in a timely manner * Attends all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings * Attends convocations and participate in graduation exercise (attired in appropriate academic regalia) * Adheres to professional standards of conduct * Participates in the faculty evaluation process
Service
* Contributes to the college and your discipline by collaborating with others and offering your service to the college
Professional Development
* Engages in continual professional development activities as it relates to pedagogy, assessment, and faculty area expertise
