The Business System Analyst (Benefits and Compensation ) is responsible for all aspects of development and maintenance of Workday HCM Benefits, Compensation, Payroll and Absences business processes including support of project planning, requirements gathering, designing, configuring, testing, creating user documentation, and providing operational support. This role requires the creativity of a solution planner, and the process knowledge of a functional lead. The Business System Analyst collaborates closely with the Human Resources Information Systems Officer, Benefits Manager, Compensation and Payroll Manager on ongoing support in HCM system administration functions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork requires knowledge of the Workday (HCM) including but not limited to Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, and Absences including support of project planning, requirements gathering, designing, configuring, testing, creating user documentation, and providing operational support.; exercise of discretion and independent judgment.Actively participates in the HCM department technology projects and, in the analysis, implementation, HCM integrations, and testing phases as well as eventual maintenance, support, and ensures timely completion.Provides ad-hoc management reports as directed by the Director of HR-Benefits and Compensation.Making recommendations/decisions regarding what features the system requires to compute payroll accurately, assess legal implications, and developing steps, protocols, and best execution for integrations.Responsible for recommending and determining features to implement. Prepares program requirements/specifications on how to integrate the process, makes decisions on the processing sequence, performs test cases, interprets results, and determines implementation steps and training.Identifies system inefficiencies, makes recommendations on corrective processes, and performs all necessary documentation to maintain a stable system.Assist with maintaining access security, including the creation, management and assignment of templates as well as maintenance of approval queues.Explores actions to take for new configuration needed or process enhancements to determine the best alternative.Creates and maintains reports and interfaces to balance various subsystems into Workday systems and processes jobs to generate pay transactions.Analyzes Gross to Net payroll and balance outbound interfaces from Workday to external and internal systems.Evaluates the impact and recommends enhancements and under supervision makes changes.Heavy focus on maintaining and developing payroll validation reports for Benefits, Compensation, Absence and HR payroll team to ensure all payroll transactions, in general are accurate.Provides functional/technical support to end users by troubleshooting issues (research and resolve) using case management systems and internal team mailbox.Work with key stakeholders to inspire collaboration and trust to deliver an amazing and intuitive experience.Responsible for supporting successful implementation of new functionality and/or processes within established timelines, as well as project-related support for recurring processes; including system releases/upgrades, enhancements, and process redesign.Ensures thorough documentation of requirements, conceptual design, and end-to-end processes. Supports development of training materials and partner in change management efforts.Other responsibilities include but are not limited to generating data extracts, special legal requests, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.Analyzes Daily, Semi-Monthly, Monthly and Annual compensation and benefits KPI reports.Performs other duties as assigned.Position Information

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field required.3-5 years of direct experience in ERP (HCM) configuration, advance/matrix reports, calculated fields, custom objects, configuration, and EIBs strongly preferred.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to write program specification and document procedures.Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.Ability to work independently as well as a team player within the department and with others.Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical and professional manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Knowledge of HR processes and terminology preferred.Excellent math, analytical and problem-solving skills preferred.Advanced level of ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot computers with proficiency in Excel, Word, FrontPage, Access (or other database software) preferred.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
