**Job Title:** Registered Nurse
**Job Specialty:** Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Observation Unit
**Job Duration:** 17 weeks
**Shift:** Night Shift, 4x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years, must be familiar with intermediate medication drips (e.g., heparin, nitro, cardizem, insulin). Charge experience required.
**License:** Valid state license required (pending license not accepted)
**Certifications:** ACLS, BCLS, and NIH
**Must-Have:**- Epic charting experience preferred- Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs- Weekend work required every other weekend
**Job Description:**- Mixed unit involving PCU, Med Surg Telemetry, and Med Surg- Ratios of 1:4 for all shifts- Work settings include telemetry and observation medicine experience preferred- Handle patient age groups including adults and geriatrics- Diagnose and manage a diverse range of patient conditions such as chest pain, abdominal pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, anemia/GI bleed, dehydration/AKI, syncope, vertigo, COPD, asthma, UTI/pyelonephritis, headache/migraine, CHF, seizure, carbon monoxide poisoning, pancreatitis, cellulitis, and post-outpatient surgery complications- Maintain a fast-paced department with a patient length of stay goal of 18-24 hours- Must complete a basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam, applicable for Float Pool and other specialized units- Clinicians will float between facilities as needed, including units such as Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surg, Uro/Vascular, and Observation- Schedule changes possible with a three-week notice for balancing staffing needs
Ensure compliance with vaccination requirements, including COVID-19 and flu vaccines, unless exempt for medical/religious reasons. Additional requirements include passing fingerprinting for specific units and completing both non-billable and billable modules during orientation.
