Job Description:
Exciting opportunity for a Certified Nurse Midwife to join a newly formed practice on campus of Orem Community Hospital, in the heart of Orem, Utah. Our midwives provide comprehensive health care for women, with a particular emphasis on wellness and patient choice. We support patients across their lifespan and in their childbirth decisions, whether it’s an unmedicated birth or epidural anesthesia.
The CNMs provide both gynecologic and obstetric care in clinic, attend births, and round with patients in hospital. Our CNMs work at the top of their scope of licensure, admitting, caring for, and discharging patients from inpatient care. We work in a highly collaborative model, consulting and supporting one another on a consistent basis.
This is a full time opportunity, typically scheduled four shifts per week. The CNM will be required to support rotating after-hours, weekend, and holiday call time. When taking inpatient duty, the CNM will be expected to attend births.
Job Essentials
CNMs are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:
Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;
Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;
Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;
Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;
Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;
Consultation with other healthcare providers;
Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;
Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.
CNMs may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Utah state license as a Certified Nurse Midwife
Certification as a Nurse Midwife
Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
Preferred: 2+ years experience full scope as a CNM
