The Associate Director of Education reports directly to the Director of Education. The Associate Director of Education manages the general education and entertainment business faculty. The position provides training for all new faculty prior to the start of the module scheduled to teach, including training on SAE policies and procedures of SAE as well as the Student-Centered Active Education philosophy of SAE, and to provide mentoring, encouragement, and support for all new faculty.Key RelationshipsDirector of EducationDepartment of Academics and Student Services (DASS)FacultyDuties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the Director of Education to ensure that management of the General Education and Entertainment Business faculty is fully aligned with institutional and program goals, strategic direction, priorities, policies, and regulatory requirements.Work closely with Director of Education and Program Chairs to identify new faculty by participating in the teaching demonstrations for each faculty candidate and providing input and feedback.Teach one General Education or Entertainment Business (depending on qualifications) course per module as determined by the Director of Education and fill in for other teachers as necessary, following the faculty job description.Manage General Education and Entertainment Business faculty, including recruiting, hiring, training and managing the faculty as required by SAE policies and procedures.Train all new faculty one week prior to the start of classes in a group setting using SAE-approved curriculum.Participate in the development of class schedules and determine program teaching and classroom assignments.Provide one-on-one support to new faculty to ensure optimal delivery of approved curricula and a Student-Centered Active Education experience.Monitor and report on the training of new faculty to the Director of Education.Remain current with technology, industry trends, and educational techniques.Participate in the general education curriculum committee.Ensure effective implementation of all SAE policies and procedures.Assist with new student orientation and re-entry orientation.Participate in campus events such as graduation, open house, career fairs, etc., as requested.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills, Knowledge and ExperienceA master’s degree or higher from a college or university accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by the US Department of Education in a subject that would qualify the candidate to teach: English Composition, Speech Communication, College Mathematics, Environmental Science, Modern and Contemporary Art and/or Career Preparation.A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a college teacher.Proven leadership skills.PreferredExperience training new faculty.Knowledge of student- or learner-centered educational approach.A minimum of two years using the Canvas Learning Management System.Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system.Familiarity with the CampusNexus student information system.Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.Additional InformationThis is a full-time, campus (on-site) based position. May require sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
