Compensation:

$88,600 - $141,800 (Skookum's compensation strategy is to position new employees between the minimum and midpoint of this range, depending on qualifications and experience.)

Full-time, Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm (flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs. Hybrid schedule possible.)

As a Senior Human Resources Partner you'll…

Provide senior-level support to the HR Director, including leading HR initiatives, providing guidance and coaching to Managers and HR team members on employee relations, recruitment, performance management and labor relations. Exemplifies Skookum’s culture, values and commitment to excellence at all times.

Travel expectations: Travel to different Skookum locations to perform HR functions including out of state travel.

Provide professional and knowledgeable HR guidance and support to ensure Skookum’s policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements and Federal, State employment laws are interpreted and implemented fairly and consistently.

Lead, mentor and educate HR Partners and Recruiters to identify courses of actions available and how to communicate such to Managers and Supervisors.

Assist HR Manager with enhancing the strategic partnership between Skookum Managers and the HR team.

Perform day-to-day HR Partner duties for the Skookum Home Office staff. Act as primary Recruiter for designated departments. Coordinate with HR Partners and Recruiters to ensure operational support is delivered in a timely and professional manner. Act as a back-up to HR Partners and Recruiters during their absence.

Have a thorough understanding of business goals. Develop, research, and recommend new approaches, policies and processes, to effect continual improvements in efficiency and accuracy of processes and services provided.

Communicate proactively with HR team members and promote transparency. Effectively communicate strategic HR and Recruitment initiatives across all levels of the organization.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of Federal, State, local and Government Contractor legal requirements and laws and ensure compliance. Work with legal counsel as needed.

Provide counsel on applicable employment laws, rules, policies, program requirements and options; analyze, interpret and apply complex human resource rules in resolving problems; Work with managers on union issues, staffing plans, classification, compensation, performance management, grievance resolution, disability accommodation, etc.

Review requests for exceptions to policies and procedures; provide recommendations on best courses of action.

Mentor HR Partners and Managers on writing job descriptions, disciplinary actions, Performance Improvement Plans, and termination letters to ensure Skookum’s position is accurately and professionally communicated.

Investigate, document and respond to complex complaints, grievances, harassment allegations, and Human Rights Commission or EEOC complaints.

Develop and implement strategies to identify, attract and hire highly qualified team members, as well as build an ongoing talent pipeline.

Assist HR Manager in ensuring recruitment methodologies and hiring practices follow government regulations and organizational policies and procedures. Act as a talent acquisition resource for Managers across the organization.

Work closely with the Vocational Director and HR Partners regarding discipline, performance improvement plans, and potential separation of employment for employees that have performance or employee relations issues that may be related to their disabilities.

Oversee Skookum’s Department of Transportation CDL physical and drug screening requirements. Work with HR Coordinator to ensure Company is compliant with DoT record keeping requirements, screenings and certifications.

Conduct and/or assist HR Partners with presentations, trainings and workshops regarding Human Resource and Recruitment functions, Workday processes, laws, procedures, and other organizational development efforts. Create and update training guides and presentations.

Identify and recommend training and resources to HR Partners and Recruiters to further their professional education.

Assist with various reports such as EEO - 1 and Vets 4212 reporting.

Summary of desired skills and experience for the Skookum Senior Human Resources Partner:

At least 6 years of previous industry related experience required

Previous supervisory experience in Human Resources preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources preferred

Combination of previous experience and education will be considered

Human Resources certifications, preferred

A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
