1st shift (United States of America)Please review the following job description:Lead a team of Data Science Managers, Lead Data Scientists, and Data Scientists to work on highly complex projects and support ongoing analytic processes which will influence business decisions for Truist’s Lines of Business and Product partners. The Data Science Director and team use advanced analytical skills, statistical methods (collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation of the data) and software for continuous iterative exploration and investigation of past client behaviors to gain insights into client and prospect targeting, client journey and engagement, and identifying clients’ needs. Act as an advisor to Truist Senior and Executive Leadership to support enterprise strategic initiatives through the application of data and analytics.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage significant advanced analytics projects which involve broad latitude and judgment regarding the management of assigned projects including scoping, approach design, assignment of tasks, and accountability for deliverables.Lead a team of Data Science Managers, Lead Data Scientists, and Data Scientists. Provide coaching and guidance to team members, understanding their strengths, weaknesses and goals to support the appropriate opportunities for career development and enhancement.Responsible for talent acquisition, coaching, and organization of data science professionals possessing highly technical skills, an understanding of business processes, natural curiosity and a drive to excellence in pursuit of business optimization and impact.Foster communication and partnership across all levels of the organization including engagement with Senior Leadership and C-Suite.Pursue business outcomes valued through increased revenue and/or efficiency leveraging data-driven insights powered by advanced analytics in support of enhanced decision-making.Provides strategic direction in data collection, data wrangling, data mining, advanced analytic concepts, AI & machine learning, self-service enablement and data visualization for the line of business partners.Drive overall team standards in order to create an inclusive and energizing environment that empowers teammates to learn, grow and have meaningful careers.Represent the team in various forums, work streams, and Executive reviews.Exercise sound judgment, risk management, and foster a client centric culture throughout design, development, and deployment practices.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related training or experience, and 15 or more years of experience in Banking, Finance, Decision/Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Engineering.10 or more years of progressive data science or analytics management experience with a diverse project focus and demonstrated results.Must be a people leader, able to manage in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment focused on supporting business partners with enhanced insights.Demonstrated ability to engage and manage a diverse set of internal business partners, product sets, and projects, connecting insights with execution and business impact.Innovative and strategic thinker with ability to connect to practical application, providing leadership on target initiatives, with a strong bias to action and focus on quantifiable business impact.Experience in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines in a collaborative environment, with ability to pivot and align resources to drive maximum impact.Ability to maintain a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools, and techniques.Incumbent should have an understanding of various database environments (IBM DB2, Oracle), technical programming skills (SAS, SQL, Toad), exposure to applied data science tools (R, Python, SAS E-Miner), familiarity with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy), and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).Preferred Qualifications:Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering.15+ years of experience in Banking, Finance, Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Engineering.Truist supports a diverse workforce and is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, gender, color, religion, citizenship or national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status or other classification protected by law.
