POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE
The SQL Database and Business Intelligence Developer I is responsible for the development, testing, implementation and support of a Microsoft SQL-based relational database used to collect and analyze data gathered through the MSBA's custom web applications that are both internal and client-facing. This position is also responsible for supporting data sets and visualizations utilizing various business intelligence and reporting platforms. This position will ensure that data is available to all users and support the database infrastructure and the testing for MSBA database environments. Working with the senior Database Developers, the SQL Database and Business Intelligence Developer I will participate in the full development life cycle to meet the objectives of the MSBA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, test, and implement changes and enhancements to current and developing SQL Databases as required Develop an understanding of MSBA business processes and workflow in order to provide appropriate data related solutions and support of MSBA Applications. Support business and client users of the web application through "back-end" database problem solving and troubleshooting of various issues as they arise and escalate as needed. Implement new database objects to store data and related performance monitoring Code stored procedures to meet business requirements Work to implement and maintain SSRS reports ensuring they are of the highest data and visual quality Work with senior Database Developers to create and maintain data sets and queries for use with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau and Power BI Work directly with the Business Analysts and end users as needed to understand data and visualization needs for BI reporting Create BI visualizations, dashboards and stories as requested including utilizing the infrastructure and means for publishing and distributing the information. Deliver work products that meet specifications, are free of defects, and have excellent performance Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with co-workers and project teams Keep up to date with database development best practices Support the operational strategies and priorities of the MSBA. Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Four-year degree in technical discipline and 2-3+ years of relevant professional experience in SQL database development Strong Microsoft Windows and SQL Server 2017(and above) and T-SQL programming skills Highly experienced in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Experience with web-enabled enterprise applications, protocols and standards Experience in implementing database schemas and data structures Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development lifecycle Experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI including creating data sets and visualizations Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work creatively, learn quickly and solve problems in high-pressure situations A task driven mindset as well as effective multitasking and follow-up skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional interpersonal style: ability to work and build trust with a diverse range of people Ability to work with tight deadlines Exhibit a professional 'can-do' attitude and flexible work style approach.
